Field of Work

As the professor for green technologies in landscape architecture and partner of the planning office gruppe F, Antje Backhaus combines research and teaching with practice. Her focus is on urban climate adaptation, green infrastructures and urban water management.

Prior to her work in Hannover, Antje Backhaus worked at the University of Copenhagen from 2008 to 2018, among other positions as Assistant Professor. There, too, she researched and taught in the field of stormwater management and climate adaptation and worked, among other things, on research projects on potentials for decoupling in the urban Danish context (project 2BG) and on the possibilities of establishing green water infrastructure in the fast-growing cities of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (project: Water Resilient Green Cities in Africa).

Exchange and cooperation continue to be the focus of her research and teaching activities.
